nice to meet you
I’m Mike. That’s me there pouring a flat white on a Synesso Sabre at a café in Melbourne.
And in the picture below, that’s me on the left working as a chef de partie at an excellent five-star hotel in Scotland.
I’ve worked in the hospitality industry since I was fourteen.
Holding almost every position imaginable: chef, waiter, bartender, barrister, marketer, stock-taker, bookkeeper, you name it, I’ve done it.
In the 15 years I’ve worked in the industry, I’ve picked up a thing or two. It’s a passion that lets me travel and work, meet some fantastic people, and, most importantly, eat and drink some of the nicest things.
How does this all relate to you?
Well, like it or not, home chefs, you’re into hospitality, too.
Whether you are cooking for friends or upgrading your morning coffee ritual, it’s all hospitality.
Hospitality isn’t some allusive club you join when you graduate from chef school.
It’s for everyone.
